Ghost Ship

Many years ago, I was invited to participate in a mystery writers’ conference to be held on board a cruise ship.  I’m not a cruise ship kinda guy, so after some back-and-forth, I said no.  Later, I heard rumors of a certain stranded cruise ship drifting with the currents, lost at sea, running short of food, rumors of cannibalism on board.

There were no survivors.  But, every year on October 7 (which happens to be the anniversary of the death of Edgar Allan Poe) a ghost ship emerges briefly from the fog before it vanishes into the night.  Did the ghost ship make an appearance yesterday?
